About Michelle Tavares

I am a freelance artist, designer, and a west coast girl living on the east coast. My artwork has been spotted at Crate & Barrel, Urban Outfitters, Lulu & Georgia, and in homes all around the world.

I've always been drawn to art, and was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to learn more by studying illustration and design at Utah Valley University. While there I participated in the Utah College Open and placed 2nd and 3rd in sculpture and illustration respectively.

I mainly grew up in southern California, but since then I have lived a nomadic life living in places like Utah, Florida, Oklahoma, Hawaii, Georgia, New York, and Pennsylvania with my husband and children. With each move I take a piece of our last home and incorporate it into my artwork. While we lived in Florida, marine life fascinated me; when we were in Utah, it was the mountains and desert that became my inspiration. Though it can be difficult to uproot our family so frequently, I also have gained a deep appreciation for all the different cultures, people, landscapes, and flora and fauna we’ve had the privilege to experience and know on our journey. What a wonderful world we live in!
